ST. LOUIS — Energizer Holdings Inc. announced that Gayle Stratmann, vice president and general counsel, is retiring from the company next year.

Energizer said Tuesday that plans call for Stratmann, who has held that post since March 2003, to retire in the first half  2012.

"Gayle has done an outstanding job as our general counsel," stated Ward Klein, Energizer’s chief executive officer. "Her wisdom, deep understanding of the business and strategic counsel has served management and the shareholders well. We wish Gayle the very best in her retirement."

At its meeting on Nov. 7, Energizer’s board named Mark LaVigne to succeed Stratmann as the general counsel with her retirement. LaVigne joined Energizer in 2010 and has served as secretary and assistant general counsel. He joined Energizer from Bryan Cave LLP, where he was a partner.

"We are pleased to have Mark step up into the role of general counsel," Klein commented. "He has a proven track record with both Bryan Cave and Energizer Holdings, has been a valuable contributor in many ways and will do an outstanding job for the company and our shareholders."

Energizer Holdings’ roster of consumer brands includes Energizer and Eveready in power products; Schick, Wilkinson Sword, Edge and Skintimate in shaving products; Playtex tampons, gloves and infant feeding products; Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic in sun care; and Wet Ones moist wipes.
