FORT WORTH — Eosera Inc. has announced that the company will expand its manufacturing capabilities and retail distribution, as well as launch a new ear care product line this year. The biotech innovator also reported that it achieved exponential growth in sales of its ear cleaning solution, Earwax MD, during the 2017 period.

“The earwax removal category has been flat for many years. Since the launch of Earwax MD, we have seen a 10% dollar growth in the branded category in retailers that have launched Earwax MD,” said Elyse Dickerson, cofounder and chief executive officer of Eosera. “Not surprisingly, all the growth dollars and units have been driven by Earwax MD and are incremental to the category. We are thrilled to be able to help retail buyers grow their category with our products.”

She added that the company will expand its brand into a full range of products that will address all kinds of ear-related problems. “We plan to launch a line of products for ear pain, itching and ear rinsing. Our goal with bringing Earwax MD to market was to improve the lives of both doctors and patients by saving people time and money. This will be the case for all of our new products as well.”

Dickerson noted that Earwax MD’s unique formula was designed to break down, dissolve and clean away debris, including earwax, from the ear canal. “The clinical evidence promoted at launch is now proving true in the hands of both doctors and consumers. Many doctors are using Earwax MD in their practice and then recommending patients to purchase the product at shelf. We consistently get feedback that Earwax MD works extremely well, and that appears to be translating into sales.”

She said Earwax MD was initially manufactured by a third party, but starting in mid-2017 Eosera began making the transition to manufacture the product in-house.

After a few months of trialing small manufacturing equipment, the company relocated and upgraded to a more sophisticated manufacturing line with greater efficiencies and capabilities. She said the company’s manufacturing expansion has helped lower costs and maintain better inventory control. “Our new investment has also created numerous jobs in the city of Fort Worth.”

She added that additional job creation is expected later this year as the company continues to grow and launch new ear care products. “Texas is ripe with talent in the biotech manufacturing space. At Eosera, we have been able to lower our costs, better control our inventory and increase the number of people we employ by bringing manufacturing in-house,” Dickerson explained.

“Given that commercialization truly began to take full force in the second half of 2017, we are very satisfied with the commercialization of our first product to date. We are now working with key retailers that want to grow their ear care category by adding our premium line of ear care solutions,” she added.

Earwax MD is currently being distributed through medical supply distributors, online (Amazon, EarcareMD.com and cvs.com), and on shelves at CVS Pharmacy retail stores nationwide. CVS is the first and so far the only major retailer to carry the product, but Dickerson anticipates much larger distribution across major U.S. retailers later in the year.
