FMI strengthens leadership team with five promotions

FMI said the promotions reflect its focus on strengthening leadership to better serve members and navigate a rapidly evolving food retail and policy landscape.

ARLINGTON, Va. — FMI – The Food Industry Association announced a series of staff promotions across key business areas, elevating five team members to leadership roles spanning digital strategy, government relations, communications and marketing.

The moves underscore FMI’s continued investment in internal expertise and leadership as it expands member support and industry impact.

“FMI’s strength lies in the expertise, dedication and leadership of our team,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of FMI. “These promotions recognize individuals who consistently deliver meaningful results and help advance our mission to support the food industry.”

Among the appointments:

  • Daniel Akinmolayan has been promoted to senior director of digital strategy and customer service at the Safe Quality Food Institute. He led major system enhancements, including a data migration to the CMX platform, which supported more than 8,000 global customer inquiries and improved digital capabilities.
  • Mike Green moves into the role of senior director of state and local government relations. He has expanded FMI’s sustainability policy efforts and led advocacy initiatives on emerging issues, including digital shelf labels and algorithmic pricing.
  • Matt McKinney is now director of communications, where he will continue advancing policy communications and public affairs efforts, translating complex issues into clear messaging across media and member channels.
  • Bianca Ruffin has been promoted to senior director of marketing. She has led enterprise-wide marketing initiatives, strengthened performance tracking and supported membership growth.
  • Kelli Windsor steps into the role of vice president of web and digital communications. She has driven the modernization of FMI’s digital platforms and expanded the organization’s use of data analytics.
