SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion is expanding its commitment to hunger relief, increasing its emergency donation to food banks to $1.6 million to meet rising demand across the retailer’s 10-state operating area.
The boost comes through the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, which previously committed $1 million in emergency Nourishing our Neighbors grants. Between November 1 and November 4, Food Lion shoppers contributed nearly $300,000 during an in-store register campaign. Food Lion is matching those contributions dollar for dollar, bringing the total to $1.6 million.
The relief funding will be distributed to 32 food banks, helping partners manage higher traffic, restock shelves, extend operating hours and ensure families have consistent access to nutritious food.

Food Lion operates more than 1,100 stores across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The expanded donation underscores the retailer’s commitment to supporting hunger relief year-round through grants, product donations, and volunteerism.
