POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Fruth Pharmacy will expand its footprint into another state this summer with its debut inside two FoodFair supermarkets.

The regional drug chain said Tuesday that under a partnership with Forth Foods Inc., the grocer’s parent, Fruth Pharmacy will take over the pharmacy inside Powell’s Food Fair in Pomeroy, Ohio, in mid-June. Then in mid-July, Fruth Pharmacy will open inside the Food Fair in Grayson, Ky., which will mark the drug chain’s entry into Kentucky. The in-store Fruth locations will be reduced in size but offer Fruth’s full pharmacy services.

“The Fruth family and the Forth family have a business relationship that started with founders Jack Fruth and Charlie Forth years ago. I am pleased to be expanding on that relationship with Forth Foods through the next generation,” Fruth Pharmacy chairman and president Lynne Fruth said in a statement.

With the new FoodFair pharmacies, Fruth Pharmacy will have 28 locations in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. FoodFair currently operates 18 supermarkets in the West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky tristate area.

“We are excited to bring all of Fruth Pharmacy’s services to our grocery stores for our customers,” stated Forth Foods president Tim Forth. “We wanted to give them a convenient option for their medications while they shop. We are looking forward to this new partnership with Fruth.”

The companies noted that the partnership will provide one-stop convenience to customers. While shopping for groceries, FoodFair customers can drop off prescriptions and have them filled. In addition, Fruth Pharmacy offers prescription counseling, a prescription savings card, a prescription rewards club, immunizations, medication flavorings for children and other pharmacy services.

Fruth Pharmacy also will offer FoodFair customers mobile access to pharmacy services. The free Fruth Mobile App, which can be downloaded from the Apple, Android or Windows app stores, enables users to order prescriptions on the go, request refills, keep track of medications and receive text alerts when medications are ready for pickup. The app also has a special feature to that allows caregivers to keep track of family members’ medications.

Pharmacy hours at both FoodFair Fruth locations will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays beginning in July. Grand opening events are planned. As a way to introduce Fruth Pharmacy to the community, customers coming in to speak with a Fruth pharmacist will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $25 FoodFair gift card during grand opening week.

“We are looking forward to serving the community of Grayson and entering into business in the state of Kentucky,” Fruth added.  “We have a unique variety of services to provide the citizens of Grayson and the customers of FoodFair. We pride ourselves on customer service and taking care of entire families. Fruth Pharmacy wants to be ‘Your Hometown, Family Pharmacy’.”
