Gerber and Erin Andrews tackle game day challenges for parents

The Gerber Family-Friendly Restaurant Fund will help local restaurants create parent-friendly spaces for families to cheer on their favorite teams on game day.

ARLINGTON, Va. – For more than 95 years, Gerber has been a trusted partner for parents, nourishing little ones to help lighten the parenting load through all the messes that come with the joy of raising future all-stars. But as parenthood evolves, many everyday spaces aren’t designed to support the real-life challenges parents face.

That’s especially true when it comes to game day traditions. While fans gather around screens to cheer on their teams, parents are often stuck on the sidelines dealing with snack fumbles, toddler tantrums and nap-time meltdowns while trying to keep up with the score. With 54% of parents with children under three identifying as football fans, the need for parent-friendly spaces to enjoy game day has never been greater.

To change what game day means for parents, Gerber is teaming up with entrepreneur, sports broadcaster and mom Erin Andrews to make game day more parent friendly. Together, they are announcing the Gerber Family-Friendly Restaurant Fund, a brand-new initiative for this football season to champion more inclusive restaurants so parents can enjoy the game without missing out on quality family time.

“I’m no stranger to game day but it’s a whole new journey as a mom,” said Erin Andrews. “Now, as I report on the field, I’m also keeping track of Mack’s moves on the sidelines. Between snack time, nap time and play time, making sure he’s happy on game day can feel like I’m on the field too. That’s why Gerber is my MVP during football season. They’ve got Mack’s favorite foods ready to roll, and they truly get what it means to support parents. Gerber’s commitment goes beyond mealtime, extending into communities by helping to transform restaurants to make a real parent-friendly impact.”

The Gerber Family-Friendly Restaurant Fund is the brand’s latest addition to its Parent-Friendly Pursuit Platform, a program dedicated to making the world a more parent-friendly place. The fund is a nationwide initiative giving independent, family-owned bars and restaurants the chance to apply for funding to enhance their current offerings of family-friendly resources to upgrade the game day fun for both parents and their little ones.

“At Gerber, we have over 95 years of experience to know that parenting doesn’t pause on game day–or any day,” said Meghan Bhatia, Marketing Director at Gerber. “Gerber is continuing its mission to make mealtime and parenting easier for parents, and we’re thrilled to partner with Erin Andrews to launch the Family-Friendly Restaurant Fund to help create more spaces where families can enjoy game day. Our goal is to make it a little easier for parents–be it adding highchairs at every table, providing kids’ menus with nutritious options or having changing tables in all restrooms. Supporting parents is in Gerber’s DNA, and together with Erin, we’re helping make game day more enjoyable for parents.”

Launched earlier this year, Gerber’s Parent-Friendly Pursuit is rooted in the brand’s legacy of supporting parents by challenging systems and raising the bar for support. Parents can learn more about Gerber’s Parent-Friendly Pursuit and see the ways the brand is creating meaningful change by visiting parents.gerber.com/ and checking out the new creative campaign “Sorry!,” currently running across digital and social channels.
