“As a management team, we decided to focus energy on how to serve the customer, how to bring solutions to market faster and how to leverage this challenging market,” H.D. Smith chief information officer David Guzman said in a statement. “Our intent throughout the last year has been to improve profitability of our partner pharmacies while creating value for them.”
For example, H.D. Smith said it recently created an in-house mobile application for its sales representatives to help manage accounts while they’re out in the field. A key feature of the app is a notification that alerts a sales rep when a pharmacy is nearing a purchasing opportunity, enabling the pharmacy to take advantage of that opportunity.
“We work in a very competitive environment, and our sales team is always looking for ways to become a more trusted adviser to our customers,” commented Rob Meriweather, corporate vice president of sales at H.D. Smith. “Through the app, we can share real-time data, trends and purchasing opportunities, all while building stronger relationships.”
H.D. Smith noted that InformationWeek also ranked the company among the top three innovators in mobile technology.
“As a company, our goal is to leverage technology to improve efficiency for the pharmacies we serve, by helping our customers save both money and time in the long run, while better caring for their patients,” stated Chris Smith, president and chief executive officer of H.D. Smith. “We are honored to be recognized by InformationWeek for this industry-leading technology.”
Springfield, Ill.-based H. D. Smith also operates CompleteCare Pharmacy, HDS Healthcare Packaging, Smith Medical Partners, Triplefin and Valley Wholesale Drug.
