DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreen Co. said it has rolled out a "new and improved" Healthcornertv.com, a web site with more than 1,200 videos on 65 health and wellness topics.

The new site provides health and wellness information through high-quality videos that feature real people managing common medical conditions, and health care experts share advice for maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, according to Walgreens.

Healthcornertv.com videos cover topics ranging from acne and allergies to Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease and diabetes. Besides management and treatment, a key mission of the site is prevention and lifestyle, with hundreds of features on cooking with functional foods, fitness and exercise.

The site also offers celebrity interviews, including Sally Field on osteoporosis, Suzanne Somers on antiaging, Jamie Lee Curtis on gastrointestinal health and Patti Labelle on diabetes. The Web site also offers links to other health and wellness online resources, such as the latest research findings from the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health.

"What sets Healthcornertv.com apart from other online resources is the compelling, engaging way it presents the most current, relevant health and wellness information," comments Connie Splitt, Walgreens media production manager and director of the new site’s content. "The videos and tools offer a more user-friendly alternative to endless articles and research."

Walgreens said Healthcornertv.com is a companion to and extension of the Health Corner television series that it sponsors. The Lifetime network show, now in its sixth season, is hosted by Joan Lunden and focuses on women’s health issues.
