Chain Drug Review and Kearney recently assembled a group of pharmacy executives, physicians, academics, and other stakeholders for the third-annual Health Equity Summit in Chicago. This is the second in a series of videos presenting event highlights and excerpts from an expert panel discussion about pharmacy and food deserts. According to a study published in JAMA Network Open, 46 percent of all counties studied had at least one pharmacy desert, and 15.8 million people in the U.S. live in pharmacy deserts, which negatively impact health care outcomes.
Panelists included Lara Knudsen, vice president of program operations at Good Neighbor Pharmacy; Nancy Lyons, chief pharmacy officer and vice president of pharmaceutical solutions and services at Health Mart; Dima Qato, Hygeia Centennial chair and associate professor in the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Southern California; and Sara Roszak, senior vice president of health and wellness strategy and policy at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Jeffrey Woldt, editor-in-chief of Chain Drug Review, moderated the panel.
