AMITYVILLE, N.Y. — Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co. has received Food and Drug Administration for levetiracetam oral solution 100mg/ml, an anti-seizure medication.
The company said Wednesday that it plans to ship its product, a generic version of UCB Pharma’s Keppra oral solution, by May.
Levetiracetam oral solution had combined brand-name and generic sales of $62 million for the 12 months ended December 2011, according to IMS Health figures cited by Hi-Tech Pharmacal.
The drug is used to treat partial onset seizures in people ages 16 years and older with epilepsy.
