BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — As part of its portfolio of complete pharmacy
fulfillment solutions, iA offers Smart Unit of Use, a product that enhances the
overall prescription fulfillment process for pharmacies.
The iA Smart Unit of Use dispenses prepackaged medications that are ready for administration, including creams and lotions, liquid medications, inhalers, topical and transdermal medications, over-the-counter medications, prefilled bottles and vials, blister packs and eyedrops. The automation technology picks and scans the medication to verify accuracy, then affixes and scans a patient-specific label to it. Finally, an image is taken to allow digital pharmacist verification, and the medication is placed in a tote with the rest of the
patient’s medications. A unique feature of the Smart Unit of Use is the ability to pick, label, image and dispense a prescription ready for a pharmacist to verify. Fully integrated with iA’s leading-edge NEXiA Software Suite, the Smart Unit of Use helps with a seamless dispensing process.
With a relatively small footprint, the Smart Unit of Use can be integrated into various fulfillment configurations and is ergonomically designed for straightforward replenishment that can occur without disrupting operations. It can include multiple shelves and lanes and hold up to 150 medications.
“The iA Smart Unit of Use is designed to enable seamless and efficient pharmacy fulfillment across a wide range of medication types,” said iA chief executive officer Tom Utech. “We’ve listened to our customers and added features that will help to streamline prescription fulfillment. By integrating advanced automation and intelligent software into all steps of the fulfillment process, we are empowering pharmacies to be able to focus on delivering direct patient care and ultimately improve health outcomes.”
