WALTHAM, Mass. — Théa Pharma Inc. is an independent pharmaceutical company specializing in the commercialization of eye care products. In 2022, the company announced the availability of the iVizia line of over-the-counter eye care products in the United States. The iVizia O-T-C product line includes lubricating eye drops, lubricating eye gel and three options for daily hygiene of sensitive eyelids. “We offer a range of eye drops as well as wipes for eyelid hygiene. Our iVizia lubricant eye drops offer an advanced formulation and innovative bottle design in an O-T-C solution to provide relief to patients who suffer from dry eyes,” said Kevin Bingham, vice president of consumer sales at Théa Pharma.

Bingham noted that iVizia lubricant eye drops are a preservative-free therapeutic advancement, combining the unique combination of povidone, trehalose (inactive ingredient) and hyaluronic acid (HA, inactive ingredient) to offer up to eight hours of relief to patients with any type of dry eye, including patients who wear contact lenses. 84% of users reported that iVizia works better than their previous eye drops. Furthermore, the unique preservative-free ABAK bottle eliminates the need for preservatives, which can be irritating to the eye over time.

Bingham pointed out that dry eye is a growing segment in general, and Théa Pharma forecasts it will continue, as the demographic trends are favorable. “But this segment is also benefiting from the increased popularity of preservative-free formulas and innovation in general. The drug channel is well positioned to capitalize on dry eye sales, as those products are often used in conjunction with a prescription.”

He added that consumers are reacting well to iVizia. “They feel a difference using our technology, and it shows in our sales results.” The products are being sold in CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aid as well as other pharmacies.
