VARENNES, Quebec — Jean Coutu Group has upgraded its online health care management platform to make it easier for families to access and keep track of their pharmacy and other health information.

The new Health Record is offered by all Jean Coutu network pharmacies and combines all services and benefits into one platform, the Canadian drug chain said Tuesday. The tool enables a single account to be used for the health information of all family members, from newborns to grandparents, the company noted.

With the upgraded platform, Jean Coutu patients can now submit one request to renew prescriptions originating from several Health Records. Pill-pack patients also can now review their Health Records and use them to request prescription renewals for medications not included in their pill packs.

Other health care services include fact sheets on medications shown in patient Health Records and the ability to monitor each family member’s weight change based on individual objectives. The Health Record also holds blood pressure and glycemic data, which can be used for a chart-based consultation. The data is automatically transferred to the in-pharmacy record to help improve hypertension and/or diabetes monitoring by the pharmacist, Jean Coutu said.

Along with streamlined account access, the new Health Record features an enhanced user experience for the website and mobile site; subscription to the It’s Ready! notification service, which sends emails or texts to patients to inform them when prescriptions are ready for pickup; and purchase receipt printing for income tax purposes.

“We have been listening to the concerns and needs of users of the former Health Record release,” Richard Mayrand, senior vice president of pharmacy and governmental affairs for Jean Coutu, said in a statement. “Therefore, we created the most comprehensive pharmacist/patient communications tool available on the market.”

Overall, Jean Coutu Group has 416 franchised stores in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Santé and PJC Santé Beauté banners.
