LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Kirby Lester has unveiled updates for its top-selling tablet counter devices, the KL1 and KL1Plus, for retail, hospital outpatient and long-term care pharmacies.

The pharmacy automation company said the tabletop-sized devices, first introduced in 2011, have helped thousands of community pharmacies fill prescriptions safely and efficiently. The 2016 updates include features to meet the national need for increased prescription accuracy and scrutiny, record-keeping, and time and cost reduction for each prescription filled.
The updates encompass more than 15 new software inclusions plus other additions, such as enhanced inventory and narcotics counting and reporting, a large touchscreen, a redesigned funnel and tray and partial-fill management.
In addition, the devices now offer three levels of user tracking, with an optional biometric scanner, plus interoperability with a pharmacy’s on-site robotic automation.
Kirby Lester noted that it’s also the only pharmacy automation company to be ISO 27001:2013 certified for information security management
“We continue to focus on creating value for pharmacists through product development that addresses labor costs, inventory control and dispensing accuracy,” stated Garry Zage, president of Kirby Lester, a division of Capsa Solutions LLC. “It is our design strategy to listen to pharmacists nationwide to truly understand the market’s needs. This intelligence and pharmacist feedback contributes to the development of the enhancements to the KL1 and KL1Plus.”
