NEW YORK — L’Oreal Group’s La Roche-Posay and Vichy Laboratoires dermatological skin care brands are slated to have a bigger presence in select Walgreens drug stores.

In Walgreens stores, the LaRoche-Posay/Vichy kiosks will use tablet technology to engage shoppers and provide information and advice about skin care.

L’Oreal said Monday that in an exclusive new concept starting this month, La Roche-Posay and Vichy Laboratoires will be featured by Walgreens in unique kiosks at select LOOK Boutiques and some of the drug chain’s other top beauty locations across the country.

The kiosks will use tablet computer technology to engage shoppers and provide information and advice about skin care. According to L’Oreal, the interactive experience will help customers by focusing on their concerns and needs as well as guide them in selecting everything from cleanser to sunscreen.

The dermatological skin care experience also carries an educational component in which users can tap into the brands’ skin care secrets or get dermatologist advice, the company added.

Customers, too, will be able to scan a product’s UPC code to instantly see its features, benefits and ingredient details. Vichy Laboratoires will also offer French beauty secrets, and La Roche-Posay will deliver board-certified dermatologist advice.

Walgreens specially trained beauty advisers, available at each of the drug store chain’s locations, are also available to help customers who have questions about skin care products or would like to sample products.

"We are always looking for ways to help our customers get, stay and live well, and these L’Oreal brands are great examples of how we can provide new dermatological skincare brands in an exciting and innovative way," Joe Magnacca, Walgreens’ president of daily living products and solutions, said in a statement. "These brands are leaders in this area, and when you fuse that with our products and beauty advisers, we are thrilled to help our customers feel good about their health and the selection and knowledge we can bring."

The joint beauty care initiative will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by executives of both companies at a Walgreens store in Buffalo Grove, Ill.

L’Oreal pointed out that the collaboration with Walgreens, the nation’s largest chain drug retailer, will make La Roche-Posay’s and Vichy’s offerings more widely available in the United States.

"Industry studies show that one out of two women in the U.S. are using the wrong skin care product for their skin’s needs," explained Henric Sark, president of the Active Cosmetics Division at L’Oreal. "One of the prime objectives of this collaboration with Walgreens is to improve the level of results and satisfaction by helping customers to make the right choice. To do this, we have worked together to provide advice and in-depth information, either through the trained beauty adviser or the interactive tablet, and also by offering products that can deliver the results, that are backed by science, proven effective and safe.

"This educational approach and the new merchandising concept show that La Roche-Posay and Vichy Laboratoires are on the cutting edge of technology, not just in skin care but also in reinventing the skin care shopping experience," Sark added.
