SAN FRANCISCO — Wellness brand Ladywell has unveiled its 'Uncensor Your Health' campaign, an initiative that highlights the widespread online censorship of women’s health topics.
The effort, powered by Ladywell’s new tool, the Censorship Scrambler, coincides with National Women’s Health and Fitness Day and aims to raise awareness about how digital platforms suppress crucial healthcare information.
Research cited by Ladywell shows that 84% of ads related to women’s health are removed from social media, while 90% of women’s health organizations face restrictions for using anatomically accurate terms such as menopause, miscarriage, breast, discharge, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and vagina. In contrast, content about men’s health is far less likely to be blocked.
The Censorship Scrambler offers a workaround by scrambling censored medical terms in a manner that bypasses filters while maintaining legibility. Ladywell is inviting individuals and organizations to input their own content into the tool to “uncensor” their health communications.

“Healthcare censorship impacts more than the bodies of women; it also impacts women-owned businesses on a mission to help women get the healthcare support they need,” said Ashley Rocha, president & founder of Ladywell. “It’s our hope that the campaign sparks conversation around a need for change to uncensor access to crucial health information women deserve.”
Ladywell notes that automated moderation systems on major tech platforms often flag standard medical terminology as “explicit,” forcing women’s health advocates to use coded “algospeak.” This, Rocha argues, weakens the clarity of important messages and deepens stigma around essential topics like endometriosis, menopause, and fertility.
The 'Uncensor Your Health' campaign launches today and will run for one month across major social media platforms.
