Latest Pharmaca store to open doors next month

Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy plans to open its 23rd location on Nov. 5 in Menlo Park, Calif.

BOULDER, Colo. — Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy plans to open its 23rd location on Nov. 5 in Menlo Park, Calif.

The regional pharmacy chain said the 4,700-square-foot location, which will be its ninth San Francisco Bay Area store, will continue the tradition of great service from Chet Yee, owner and pharmacist at Menlo Park Pharmacy, who will remain on staff as a pharmacist. Led by Shannon Wood, N.D., the new Pharmaca store will be staffed by a variety of licensed pharmacists and holistic practitioners, including naturopathic doctors, herbalists and estheticians.

Plans call for the Menlo Park Pharmaca to open its doors with a ribbon-cutting event hosted by area chamber of commerce and city council members, along with Wood, store manager Susan Joslin and pharmacy manager Meghann Boswell, Pharm.D. The first 100 customers to visit the store that day will receive goodie bags filled with samples from Pharmaca’s product selection, the retailer said.

In addition to the grand opening giveaway, customers can get free 15-minute chair massages, mini-makeovers and facials from Friday, Nov. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 7. There will also be additional giveaways throughout the grand opening weekend with a $5 minimum purchase, including reusable Pharmaca shopping bags, Burt’s Bees Sample Packs and Juice Beauty Sample Packs.

Pharmaca added that it also has partnered with the Jerry Rice 127 Foundation to donate 5% of retail sales on Nov. 7 to the foundation’s annual toy drive. Customers will also have the opportunity to round up their purchase totals to make a monetary donation to the foundation, as well as drop off any new toys for donation at the store. And to show further support, Pharmaca aims to donate 100 all-natural, fair-trade sock monkeys to the foundation’s toy drive.

"We are excited to join the Menlo Park community and share the values of Pharmaca with more residents in the Bay Area," Mark Panzer, president and chief executive officer of Pharmaca, said in a statement. "Our distinctive concept provides our customers with an opportunity to manage their own health through traditional pharmacy offerings, holistic treatment options, additional health-focused products, educational resources and a talented licensed practitioner staff."

Pharmaca, which announced plans for the Menlo Park store opening early last month, has pharmacies in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.
