INDIANAPOLIS — Lilly USA has introduced TruAssist,  a website and call center for health care providers and patients to access information about the pharmaceutical company’s patient assistance programs.

The Eli Lilly and Co. unit said Monday that the website (LillyTruAssist.com) and call center (1-855-LLYTRUE) are designed to provide an umbrella for its patient assistance programs, creating a single point of contact.

The TruAssist website and call center will provide detailed program eligibility information for the Lilly Cares and LillyMedicareAnswers programs, as well as programs that assist eligible patients in obtaining Lilly specialty products, according to the company. A program finder tool on the TruAssist site will direct patients to the program appropriate for them.

"In 2010, Lilly helped approximately 227,000 people in the United States obtain the Lilly medications they need," commented Jack Harris, vice president of Lilly’s U.S. medical division. "With TruAssist, our goal is to further our commitment to improving patients’ lives by increasing awareness of these programs and giving health care providers and patients one easy-to-use resource for accessing them."

Last year, Lilly said, its patient assistance programs donated more than $336 million in product value to assist more than 227,000 patients. The largest programs are Lilly Cares, a program of the Lilly Cares Foundation Inc., and LillyMedicareAnswers.

Lilly Cares assists uninsured eligible patients with more than 20 Lilly medications related to the therapeutic areas of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, mental health and men’s and women’s health. Lilly assists eligible Medicare patients through the LillyMedicareAnswers patient assistance program, designed for participants in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
