BRAMPTON, Ontario — Loblaw Cos. has extended pharmacy hours for several of its supermarket banners in Ontario and is implementing technology to speed the filling of prescriptions.
The Canadian food and drug retailer said customers will find longer pharmacy hours at select Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaw Superstore, Loblaws and Loblaw Great Food, Zehrs and Zehrs Great Food, Fortinos and Your Independent Grocer store locations.
"Our customers’ interests are paramount, and availability of quality service and care on a schedule that fits their lifestyle is important to them. We are constantly striving to ensure they get the best service, which includes extending opening hours," Andrew Iacobucci, senior vice president of Loblaw’s drug business unit, said in a statement.
Loblaw said it’s also enhancing pharmacy service by rolling out new information technology and implementing new methods to improve prescription processing times, which will allow pharmacists to spend more time with patients.
Plans also call for the company to recruit pharmacy students and interns along with pharmacists to help ensure customer needs are met.
Loblaw has more than 1,000 corporate and franchised stores across Canada, and roughly half of the stores contain pharmacies.
