Mars rolls out Snickers Peanut Butter Squared

Mars Chocolate North America has shipped a new variety of its Snickers candy bar, Snickers Peanut Butter Squared, to drug stores and other mass retailers nationwide.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate North America has shipped a new variety of its Snickers candy bar, Snickers Peanut Butter Squared, to drug stores and other mass retailers nationwide.

Mars said Monday that Snickers Peanut Butter Squared retains all of the ingredients of the classic Snickers bar — peanuts, caramel, nougat and milk chocolate — and pairs them with peanut butter. In fact, the company noted, Snickers Peanut Butter Squared has become the top-testing new candy bar product for Mars in the last three years.

Each 1.78-ounce singles pack of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared includes two square-shaped bars and sells for a suggested retail price of 89 cents.

To help launch Snickers Peanut Butter Squared, Mars this month plans to kick off an integrated marketing campaign, including a consumer promotion and advertising on television, print, online and in-store, along with a national public relations campaign. The tagline for the new creative campaign reads, "If you like peanut butter and chocolate, you’ll love peanut butter and Snickers."

"How do you improve the most satisfying candy bar in the world? You add peanut butter," commented Debra Sandler, chief consumer officer for Mars Chocolate North America. "We know people love the satisfying taste of Snickers, and research told us they also love peanut butter and chocolate."
