DURHAM, N.C. — MedPharm has appointed Jason Mieding as chief operating officer, creating a new leadership role as the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) continues to expand its operations.
Mieding will serve as site head for MedPharm’s 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Durham, overseeing operational strategy, execution, and performance. He will also contribute to strategic planning, capital allocation, and organizational development.
He brings extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and operations, having held roles of increasing responsibility at Thermo Fisher Scientific and Patheon.
“I’m excited to be joining MedPharm at such an important time in the company’s history,” Mieding said. “The company has a strong reputation for its expertise and commitment to operational excellence, and I look forward to working with the team to build on this foundation, drive continuous improvement, delight our customers, and support the company’s continued growth.”
MedPharm CEO Bill Humphries said the appointment will support the company’s expanding manufacturing operations and its investment in additional capabilities.
“His track record in commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing and operational excellence will be a real asset to MedPharm as our growth accelerates and we continue to invest in strengthening our capabilities,” Humphries said.
The appointment follows a period of expansion for MedPharm, including its 2024 merger with Tergus Pharma, which strengthened its capabilities in drug development, formulation, and commercial-scale manufacturing.
MedPharm specializes in topical and transdermal drug development and manufacturing, offering services from early-stage research and testing to clinical and commercial production. The company operates facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
