WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp.’s MinuteClinic retail health clinic subsidiary has appointed Paulette Thabault as its chief nurse practitioner officer.
The company said Wednesday that Thabault most recently served as Vermont’s commissioner of banking, insurance securities and health care administration, where she oversaw financial services including health insurance and was responsible for state planning for federal health insurance reform implementation, overseeing Vermont’s hospitals and establishing requirements for transparency in health care quality and pricing.
In her new role at MinuteClinic, Thabault will provide professional leadership to clinicians who staff the retail clinics and will help lead MinuteClinic’s clinical and service excellence.
According to CVS Caremark, Thabault has health care, health administration and policy, and leadership experience in a career spanning more than 30 years. Previously, she was Vermont’s deputy commissioner of health care administration and served as vice president of clinical and legal services for the Vermont Health Plan. Thabault also has served as a nurse practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also acted as an administrative leader, and at Harvard Community Health Plan.
A registered nurse, she earned her master of science in nursing degree from Simmons College and a law degree from New England School of Law.
"We are very excited to have Paulette join the MinuteClinic team as our chief nurse practitioner officer," commented Andrew Sussman, president of MinuteClinic and senior vice president/associate chief medical officer at CVS Caremark. "She has had an impressive career that includes clinical practice and health care administration. She will be a tremendous leader for us as we continue to evolve the MinuteClinic model of health care."
MinuteClinic has about 500 locations in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
Also on Wednesday, CVS Caremark announced that it has expanded its number of Massachusetts-based clinics to 20 with the opening of two new sites inside CVS pharmacy stores in Hanover and Quincy.
