Molson Canadian thanks Buffalo Sabers fans with a billboard as part of its “Cheer Canadian” campaign

Molson Canadian brings “Cheer Canadian” to Buffalo, celebrating fans who united for the Canadian anthem.

TORONTO — Canada is part of Buffalo’s hockey DNA. Attend any professional game in the city and you’ll hear both national anthems. That bond was on full display last week when the microphone cut out during O Canada—and fans immediately stepped in, singing the anthem together without hesitation.

To say thank you, Molson Canadian made a surprise appearance in Buffalo ahead of Game 6, sampling Molson Canadian for fans and bringing its “Cheer Canadian” platform to the city.

In addition to the sampling activation, the brand launched localized digital out‑of‑home placements featuring a simple, heartfelt message inspired by the anthem moment—transforming an act of respect into a shared celebration.

“That moment was a powerful expression of cultural pride. It was bigger than the game,” said Eric Kouri, marketing director at Molson Coors Beverage Company. “As a brand that has represented Canada for more than 240 years and has long been part of the Buffalo community, it was important for us to show our gratitude to Buffalo fans.”

Molson Canadian launched “Cheer Canadian” at the start of the playoffs, with billboards appearing across key markets nationwide encouraging fans to rally behind Canadian teams and players competing for the Stanley Cup—regardless of whether their home team made the postseason. Rooted in the belief that hockey is Canada’s game, the campaign invites fans to support the sport, the players, and the moments that unite them.

The “Cheer Canadian” campaign will continue throughout the playoffs as Molson Canadian celebrates Canadians competing for hockey’s ultimate prize—and the fans, wherever they are, who cheer them on.
