SECAUCUS, N.J. — Consumer goods manufacturer, distributor and marketer My Imports USA has acquired the TAG men’s personal care brand from Procter & Gamble Co.
Financial terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.
My Imports USA said Tuesday that it will continue to market TAG deodorants and expand the brand to with new deodorants, antiperspirants, body sprays, body washes, hair washes and other men’s grooming items. The company plans to ship the new TAG products early in the first quarter of 2017.
“We are excited to have TAG as a part of our family of brands and our go-forward strategy to own and market well-known brands,” stated Fahim Ibrahimi, chief executive officer of My Imports USA.
Launched in 2005 by the TAG Fragrance Co. the TAG brand later became a part of P&G via the consumer packaged goods giant’s acquisition of The Gillette Co. According to My Imports USA, TAG at one time held a 20% market share of the U.S. men’s body spray business and was the No. 3 best-seller among men’s body spray brands.
In 2009, TAG launched its Signature Series with celebrities endorsing the product on its packaging, My Imports USA said. TAG is well-known for its popular scents, such as Midnight, Wild Card, Lucky Day, After Hours, All Nighter, Make Moves, Get Yours, Spin It and Step Out, the company said.
My Imports USA’s lineup includes consumer packaged goods, health, beauty, household and general merchandise products under such brands as TAG, Amoray, Bio Power and Ultra Max.
