ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has hired Sara Rubin as manager of pharmacy care.
In this position, Rubin will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of NACDS pharmacy care initiatives. She reports to Alex Adams, vice president of pharmacy programs.
In addition, Rubin will provide analysis of emerging health issues, such as accountable care organizations (ACOs) and medical homes, as they relate to pharmacy care. She will also develop and implement educational and training programming for NACDS meetings and manage activities related to NACDS’ work with pharmacy colleges and universities.
Rubin comes to NACDS from the National Association of County and City Health Officials in Washington, D.C., where she served as a senior program analyst and led efforts to connect public health departments with community pharmacies. Her experience also includes serving as project manager for the Florida Division of Emergency Management in Tallahassee, Fla.
“As pharmacy’s role in health care delivery continues to evolve, Sara’s background in public health at the federal and state level will serve her well in advancing NACDS’ pharmacy care initiatives on behalf of the industry,” NACDS president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson commented.
NACDS noted that Rubin also co-founded and moderates the first Twitter chat about public health, called Public Health Talks (@PubHealthTalks/#PubHT), which has nearly 1,700 followers.
