ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has launched NACDS Mobile, a mobile web site that serves as a “guide on the go” to the organization’s meetings, advocacy and public relations.
The site, http://m.NACDS.org, is designed for ease of use on any smartphone with a web browser.
Features of NACDS Mobile include a designated section for each of the association’s conferences and meetings, and the most recent news on NACDS’ public policy advocacy and advancement of pharmacy as the face of neighborhood health care. It also provides a hub to NACDS’ strong social media presence on Twitter and its relatively new engagement in Facebook.
“NACDS Mobile applies a current approach to NACDS’ consistent mission,” says president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson. “Wherever you are, it delivers the latest on NACDS’ work to foster business community and to advance pharmacies as the face of neighborhood health care through government advocacy and communications.”
NACDS Mobile complements the smartphone applications that were introduced for use at select NACDS meetings and conferences in 2010, and which will remain in use for select meetings in 2011. These apps are also free and designed to enhance attendees’ efficiency and experience at NACDS conferences and meetings with speaker information, interactive site maps, schedules and more.
The NACDS mobile site is the latest addition to a growing list of mobile applications being employed across the industry.
Drug chains from Canada’s Jean Coutu Group to such industry giants as CVS Caremark Corp., Walgreen Co. and Rite Aid Corp., and a handful of smaller players have all begun offering mobile apps that let patients do everything from refilling prescriptions from a smart handheld device to finding a nearby pharmacy.
