ARLINGTON, Va. — Vishal Bhatia has been promoted to vice president of information services and information services security officer at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.

NACDS said Monday that Bhatia, previously a director, will lead the association’s information services function. He is responsible for helping to develop and directing the day-to-day operations of NACDS’ information services assets in the areas of data, voice, network, desktop applications and system development. He also oversees all issues involving information security.
Bhatia reports to Dave Fitzsimmons, senior vice president of finance and administration at NACDS.
“We refer to NACDS’ offices in Washington, D.C., not as a headquarters, but rather as an advocacy and support center for NACDS members nationwide. Vishal’s expertise and dedication, and that of our information services team, prove absolutely essential in living up to that vision,” NACDS president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson said in a statement.
“To lead an information services team at this moment in time, one needs to stay focused on security and opportunity alike. Vishal does a tremendous job of that, seeking ways to apply technology creatively, efficiently and cost-effectively — while confronting security topics that face every organization and household around the world. Every day, Vishal makes NACDS better-capable of serving the membership, which is NACDS’ entire reason for being,” Anderson added.
Bhatia joined the NACDS staff team on a full-time basis in January 2001 in the function of software support and was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility. Previously, he served in a part-time capacity at NACDS, and before that he was a system/network administrator at Information Concepts Inc., a software development firm.
