ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores issued the following statement in advance of the House hearing next week on PBM practices:

NACDS RxIMPACT needs YOUR help today to make sure the U.S. House knows pharmacies will be watching when the House Oversight and Accountability Committee holds a hearing on pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) tactics on July 23 at 10:00am ET! Executives from the three largest PBMs are scheduled to testify. Make plans TODAY to tune in and to demonstrate to Congress that this investigation – and immediate action on PBM reform – is critically important for Americans and for their pharmacies.

Can’t make it? Register, and we will share a recording of the event!

In announcing the hearing, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R., Ky.) foreshadows the tone of this don’t-miss event: “Both Republicans and Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have sounded the alarm over anticompetitive tactics deployed by PBMs and their role in rising drug prices. Information the Committee has obtained shows spread pricing and rebates benefit PBMs and have helped the three largest PBMs monopolize the pharmaceutical market. It’s clear these self-benefitting practices only serve to help their bottom line rather than patients. PBMs have been allowed to hide in the shadows for far too long. I look forward to the Oversight Committee continuing to work in a bipartisan fashion to shine a light on how these PBMs have undermined community pharmacies, raised prescriptions drug prices, and jeopardized patient care.”

With your help we can help this hearing lead to not only further discussion, but much needed action! Together, let’s remind U.S. Representatives what’s REALLY important in the PBM reform conversation.  NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on YOU to join our “PBM Patrol” Watch Party! How is this impactful? The more advocates that register, the stronger the PBM reform message sent to your U.S. Representatives (so please share this invite with friends, colleagues, employees!).

Two ways to engage with the “PBM Patrol” Watch Party:
1. Watch the July 23 House Oversight Committee Hearing at 10:00am ET.
2. Can’t make it but want to watch later? Register and we’ll share a recording of the event.

Register BEFORE JULY 22nd at 10:00AM ET, as NACDS will share with leaders the tally of constituents who will be watching the July 23 hearing. These details may inspire leaders to attend – or even speak up at – the hearing given they’ll know constituents will be watching for their leadership. With your help, we can have a significant impact on hearing discussions!

Here’s how it works!

1. Register to join our “PBM Patrol” Watch Party by clicking the below register button.
2. Upon registration you will receive one Zoom link for the event.
3. Log into the event to watch the hearing.
4. After the event, we’ll share the recording with registrants.

This gathering is a POWERFUL way to showcase to U.S. Representatives that constituents at home are WATCHING! Work with the NACDS RxIMPACT community to turn the tide on PBM practices that put profits before people and that jeopardize the pharmacies on which Americans rely.

In addition, NACDS continues its seven-figure advertising campaign to urge PBM reform now. The ad depicts the powerful Capitol Hill press conference that was part of NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill this year. It’s another way that the grassroots support behind PBM reform continues to keep PBM reform top-of-mind for action this year.
