ARLINGTON, Va. – In recognition of Women’s Health Month, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) has released a series of digital content showcasing NACDS member pharmacies’ efforts to advance women’s health and to encourage women of all ages to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. A focus on women’s health is important; nearly 46% of adult women have been diagnosed with hypertension; more than 42% of adult women have been diagnosed with obesity; and more than 15% of adult women are considered to be in fair or poor health, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. “NACDS is proud to recognize pharmacies and pharmacists nationwide as they shine a light on health issues unique to women and offer ready access to preventive care for chronic conditions like heart disease, for cerebrovascular diseases, and for cancer — the leading causes of death among adult women,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “This digital campaign spotlights NACDS member pharmacies’ ongoing work to deliver total health and wellness solutions to the most vulnerable Americans, during Women’s Health Month and every day.” View the NACDS Women’s Health Month content on Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, and share with the official campaign hashtag, #NourishMyHealth. A poll conducted by Morning Consult and commissioned by NACDS found that more than 8-in-10 Americans support a role for pharmacists in helping patients prevent chronic disease. See polling data for the nation and for each state. The newly launched digital campaign complements the broader Nourish My Health initiative, part of a commitment by NACDS to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and a collaboration with leading health organizations. “Nourish My Health” seeks to reach millions of Americans, including those who live in rural areas and underserved communities, focusing on regions with disproportionate risk of diet-related diseases. The campaign will amplify the importance of preventive screenings and raise awareness of the power of nutritious food as a part of lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes. In February, in honor of American Heart Month and as part of the broader Nourish My Health public education campaign, NACDS released digital content demonstrating NACDS member pharmacies’ role in helping patients support their heart health through prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. Similarly, in November, in recognition of National Diabetes Month, NACDS featured member pharmacies’ essential role in diabetes prevention and management through a series of social posts, which can be accessed here. In addition to partnering health organizations, NACDS member pharmacy companies are participating in Nourish My Health at select locations — leveraging scheduled wellness events, immunization clinics, and awareness events like Women’s Health Month. |
