Nelsons H+Care provides homeopathic option for hemorrhoids

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — U.K.-based Nelsons has introduced Homeopathic H+Care Hemorrhoid Cream in the United States.

The 150-year-old company, part of London-based natural and homeopathic product maker A. Nelsons & Co. Ltd., said Thursday that H+care is a new hemorrhoid cream that provides soothing relief from hemorrhoid pain, itching and burning without the use of vasoconstrictors, which it noted can negatively affect other health issues such as high blood pressure.

With aloe in the base, H+care Hemorrhoid Cream relieves burning, itching, pain and discomfort, as well as reduces swelling and protects irritated tissue — and without using vasoconstrictors, steroids, anesthetics or parabens, according to Nelsons.

In the United States, Nelsons said, about 32 million people — including 50% of the population over age 50 — experience hemorrhoids, which usually peak between ages 45 and 65. The company noted that several hemorrhoid products on the market contain a vasoconstrictor (which constricts blood vessels) such as phenylephrine to reduce swelling irritation. Such products’ labels advise that the product not be used by people with hypertension without first asking a doctor.

"There are literally millions of American’s who suffer from hemorrhoids while managing high blood pressure. With no vasoconstrictors, H+care is an effective option for hemorrhoid relief," stated Katrina Eichenfeldt, senior brand manager at Nelsons. "H+care is also free of steroids and anesthetics, ingredients that can sometimes exacerbate hemorrhoids symptoms and increase discomfort."

Nelsons H+care Hemorrhoid Cream, which comes in a 1-ounce tube for $9.99, and H+care Hemorrhoid Wipes with Witch Hazel for pain relief, available in a 54-count pack for $9.99, are now sold at Walgreens drug stores nationwide.
