DETROIT — A new chief executive officer is slated to take the reins at Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories Ltd. next month.

The generic and private-label drug maker and marketer said  that G. P. Singh Sachdeva will assume the position of CEO following the resignation of Jitendra Doshi as interim CEO and as a director, effective Nov. 1 because of personal and health-related reasons.

During the next few weeks, Doshi will assist the company in effecting a smooth transition, according to Caraco.

Singh, 42, has served as the Caraco’s chief operating officer since July 2010. He also served as senior vice president of business strategies from July 2007 to July 2010, as well as vice president of sales and marketing from September 2003 to July 2007, and national sales and marketing manager from September 2000 to September 2003.

Caraco noted that Singh has played a "prominent and significant role" in the company’s success since joining the firm in 2000.
