VARENNES, Quebec — Stockholders of the Jean Coutu Group elected two new directors to the company’s board at its annual shareholders meeting.

The Canadian pharmacy operator said late Tuesday that Marie-Josée Lamothe and Michael Hanley have joined the board.
Lamothe is managing director of branding and managing director for Quebec at Google Canada. She’s also a 20-year veteran of the consumer product marketing industry, including as chief marketing officer and a vice president at L’Oreal Canada. Before that, she held positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Adams Brands.
Hanley is a chartered accountant and a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec. Before becoming a corporate director in 2012, he held various executive positions in large corporations.
“We are very proud to welcome Mrs. Lamothe and Mr. Hanley on our board of directors,” chairman Jean Coutu said in a statement. “Their skills and experience will constitute strong assets for the development of our activities.”
At the meeting, shareholders also re-elected 13 directors, including Lise Bastarache, François Coutu, Jean Coutu, Marie-Josée Coutu, Michel Coutu, Sylvie Coutu, L. Denis Desautels, Marcel Dutil, Nicolle Forget, Robert Lacroix, Andrew Molson, Cora Mussely Tsouflidou and Annie Thabet.
Overall, Jean Coutu Group operates a network of 420 franchised drug stores in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique and PJC Santé Beauté banners.
