BRISTOL, Tenn. — NFI Consumer Products is set to roll out Lidocare Pain Relief Patch, which the company calls the first lidocaine patch available over the counter.
The maker of the Blue-Emu product line for muscle, joint and skin conditions, NFI said Monday that it’s launching the Lidocare patch in tandem with Prosolus Inc. Plans call for national retail distribution at CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens stores in April/May and then at other retailers later in the year.
Lidocare contains 4% lidocaine — the maximum available without a prescription — and provides up to eight hours of pain relief, according to NFI. The company noted that the odor-free product is also the only water-free lidocaine patch available and, as a result, it’s ultra-flexible, sweat-resistant and highly durable.
“After the triple-digit growth Blue-Emu has experienced, we are truly excited about continuing to provide pain relief to all of our NFI consumers through this launch,” NFI president chief executive officer Susan Gregory stated.
Made with real emu oil, other Blu-Emu products include the Original Blue-Emu Super Strength muscle and joint cream, Blue-Emu Continuous Pain Relief Spray, Blue-Emu Maximum Arthritis Pain Relief Cream and Blue-Emu Anti-Itch Cream. The brand is distributed to more than 50,000 retail outlets, primarily at mass merchandisers, supermarkets and drug stores.
“With this new launch, our company will now have over six products at national retailers to provide our consumers with relief,” commented Benjamin Blessing, executive vice president of sales and marketing at NFI.
NFI Consumer Products was acquired by Gregory Pharmaceutical Holdings Inc. in January 2014.
