WASHINGTON — TheraPearl has inked an endorsement deal with National Football League running back Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The pain relief therapy company said Wednesday that the reigning NRL rushing champion will be featured in a 2013 national print campaign and in retail store activation programs to to help raise awareness about the proper way to warm up and cool down using hot and cold therapy products.

Jones-Drew will also bring his on-the-field knowledge to TheraPearl’s R&D labs to help with new product development ideas and research, as well as assist in educating consumers by contributing to TheraPearl’s social media efforts and outreach programs.

"This partnership isn’t about the college All-American, the Pro Bowler or the NFL’s rushing leader. It’s about a guy who knows better than anyone else that life can take a toll on your body and is always looking to take steps to stay as healthy as possible," stated Daniel Baumwald, president of TheraPearl. "We’re fired up by MJD’s excitement for our brand, and we’re fortunate to have a player so passionate about helping us."

TheraPearl — which recently signed a deal with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) through NFL Players Inc., NFLPA’s licensing and marketing arm — creates doctor-designed hot and cold therapy products using its Pearl Technology. Products endorsed by Jones-Drew include packs that can be chilled or heated to provide general therapeutic relief, as well as the athlete-focused Proline packs, which are specialty athletic recovery products designed to target specific problem areas and adjust to fit a person’s shins, knees and other parts of the body.

"I love using the TheraPearl ice therapy after practice. It helps with any swelling I may have and conforms to the area I’m icing," Jones-Drew said in a statement. "I’ve used other products in the past, but they didn’t have the flexibility that I get with TheraPearl."
