ORANGEBURG, N.Y. — Nice-Pak Products Inc. plans to install an 855-kilowatt solar array on the roof of its headquarters in Orangeburg, N.Y.

The company said installation began in late August and will take about six weeks to finish.

The ballasted roof-mounted system is designed to prevent 1.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the environment each year. It is expected to generate 1 million kilowatt hours of energy a year and supply 15% of the building’s total electricity load.

"This solar array demonstrates our commitment to invest in and support sustainable business practices and is an important step towards meeting our goals for energy use and emissions," stated Robert Julius, chairman and chief executive officer of Nice-Pak.

Nice-Pak designs, manufactures, markets and distributes branded and private-label wet wipe products.
