PARAMUS, N.J. — Oceans Omega LLC has introduced what it calls the world’s first commercially produced omega-3 fortified liquid health shots.

The company said Wednesday that the two-ounce, single-serve shots, sold under the Omega Infusion brand, contain 250 mg of ultra-pure Omega-3s (EPA and DHA) and have no calories.

Sold at select Rite Aid and Kmart stores, the shots come in three flavors — peach mango, raspberry lemon and pink grapefruit — and can be consumed individually or added to water or seltzer as a delicious beverage alternative, according to Oceans Omega.

"We are excited to be the first company in the world to produce an Omega-3 fortified liquid health shot under featuring our proprietary ingredients," stated Benjamin Mamola, chief executive officer of Oceans Omega, a subsidiary of Mycell Technologies LLC. "Our company’s ability to deliver omega-3 fatty acids in delicious traditional products is extremely gratifying knowing that omega-3 fatty acids are shown to support cognitive function and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."

Oceans Omega said it added the liquid health shot to the Omega Infusion brand after a positive response to its Omega Infusion Omega-3 enhanced water launched to consumers earlier this year. The company noted that the rising popularity of functional beverages and liquid supplements reflects the fact that more than 40% of Americans cannot or do not like taking pills.
