RICHMOND, Texas — OCuSOFT Inc. has begun shipping the Ocudox Convenience Kit to retail pharmacies.

The company said Thursday that the Ocudox Convenience Kit contains Ocudox (doxycycline hyclate 50 mg, 60 capsules), OCuSOFT Lid Scrub PLUS Extra Strength Pre-Moistened Pads (30 count) with antibacterial prop, and Tears Again advanced liposome spray (15 ml).

Each component in the kit was selected as a result of requests from doctors seeking a simple-yet-effective treatment option specific to acute cases of eyelid disease, according to OCuSOFT.

OCuSOFT Lid Scrub PLUS Extra Strength "leave-on" eyelid cleanser provides anti-bacterial properties to eradicate seven strains of bacteria, including MRSA and Staph epi1, the company said. Tears Again advanced liposome spray is a cool, refreshing mist that is applied directly to the eyelids with the eyes closed. Using patented liposome technology to deposit water and lipids as well as vitamins A, C, and E, Tears Again is designed to provide moisture to soothe and relieve irritated eyelids.

The company added that the Ocudox Convenience Kit with its doxycycline hyclate 50 mg strength targets acute conditions and offers 60 capsules for variable dosing, as determined by the practitioner. Ocudox complements Alodox (doxycycline hyclate 20 mg, 60 tablets), which is directed toward chronic conditions requiring longer-term therapy.

Pharmacies offering the new kit, OCuSOFT said, include Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade and Wal-Mart.
