ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association announced that all members of Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma (PPOk) have signed up for membership in NCPA.
PPOk network includes more than 650 pharmacy members in Oklahoma, and the member-owned nonprofit corporation’s retail pharmacy buying group negotiates contracts with wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors and service providers for over 500 pharmacies.
Other services that PPOk provides to its members include RxSelect third-party contracting services, central payment, claims reconciliation, RxLinc claims transmission, contract compliance monitoring, MAC evaluations and RxProtect audit services.
"PPOk’s leadership and many of its pharmacies have long been supporters and members of NCPA, and we’re excited to now have all of its members on board," NCPA president Robert Greenwood said in a statement. "With so many changes and challenges before us, independent pharmacy must demonstrate strength in numbers and work together for our profession and our patients. We’re glad to have PPOk join us in our efforts to make our voices heard."
NCPA said Wednesday that besides benefitting from and supporting its advocacy efforts, PPOk members will now have access to additional perquisites of NCPA membership, including financial benchmarking, via the NCPA Digest, sponsored by Cardinal Health; peer-to-peer Members Forum discussions and updates on health care reform implementation; and programs such as Dispose My Meds prescription drug disposal.
"We are very pleased to provide yet another benefit to our PPOk members. As a result of their membership in NCPA, they will be better informed on the many critical issues facing our profession," stated Lonny Wilson, chief executive officer of PPOk. "We are absolutely committed in our efforts to really get behind NCPA’s political advocacy and government affairs initiatives."
