NEW YORK  — Oscar and Capsule have announced a new partnership that will bring Capsule’s effortless, same-day delivery pharmacy benefits to all Oscar members in New York. Starting on January 1, 2020, all Oscar members can select Capsule as their pharmacy in the app. Members will be able to easily opt-in for Capsule benefits through the Oscar app, transfer existing prescriptions, and receive medications same-day, for free.

As much of the health care system remains inaccessible, frustrating, and confusing, Oscar and Capsule have aligned to build a more seamless experience delivering the care consumers need when and where they need it. Oscar is the most consumer-friendly health insurer in the country and continues to see high member engagement with its benefits, including free, 24/7 telemedicine (at a rate five times the industry average) and personalized Concierge Team service (which 80% of Oscar members have contacted for guidance). At the same time, Capsule’s delightful consumer experience including free and convenient same-day delivery drives 50 percent higher primary adherence to medications.

“We are thrilled to be working with a partner like Capsule to give Oscar members easy, simple, and immediate access to their prescriptions,” said Mario Schlosser, chief executive officer and co-founder of Oscar. “We know that filling, waiting, and picking up prescriptions can be one of the most painful parts of the health care experience, and we are looking forward to working with Capsule to alleviate this frustration for Oscar members.”

“We are excited to bring Capsule’s beloved consumer experience to Oscar’s members to make it easier for them than ever before to get, manage, and stay on their medications,” said Eric Kinariwala, founder and CEO of Capsule. “Our partnership is made possible by harnessing both Capsule and Oscar’s proprietary technology platforms in a way unique to the conventional healthcare system. This is healthcare – as it should be.”

This new Capsule pharmacy benefit will be available through all Oscar plans in New York including individual, small group, and new Medicare Advantage plans for 2020.
