P&G executive named to chair CHPA

Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, vice president of personal health care for North America and digestive wellness design at Procter & Gamble Co., has been elected as chairman of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA).

WASHINGTON — Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, vice president of personal health care for North America and digestive wellness design at Procter & Gamble Co., has been elected as chairman of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA).

As CHPA chairman, Lockwood-Taylor succeeds James Mackey, senior vice president at Bayer HealthCare LLC. The P&G executive was elected during CHPA’s fall board meeting on Friday.

"At a time of unprecedented change in the health care arena, there are now more opportunities than ever to unlock this industry’s growth potential and its contribution to the delivery of cost-effective health care," Lockwood-Taylor said in a statement. "This can meaningfully improve the lives of American consumers."

Lockwood-Taylor joined P&G in Newcastle, United Kingdom, in 1991. He moved through the P&G ranks, serving in leadership positions in the U.K. and Western Europe, West Africa, Cincinnati, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, India, Korea and Japan. In 2009, he was promoted to vice president for the association of Southeast Asian Nations, Australasia, India, Korea and Japan feminine care and Asia health care. In 2010, he was named vice president, North America feminine care and assumed the role of brand franchise leader for that business. Lockwood-Taylor was named to his current position at P&G this year.

"It’s a pivotal time for our industry, and our association is delighted to have a visionary like Patrick lead our board to continue the significant progress made under our outgoing chair, Jim Mackey," stated CHPA president and chief executive officer Scott Melville said. "Patrick is passionate about the role that over-the-counter medicines and supplements play in our nation’s evolving health care system, and he’s ideally suited to serve as chair at this time of opportunity and growth for our industry."

At the fall meeting, CHPA also elected three new members to its board: Julie Dillon, general manager of professional oral care for North America at Colgate-Palmolive Co.; Akshay Shetty, co-CEO at Combe Inc.; and Suneet Varma, regional president for North America at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare.
