NEW YORK — PepsiCo this week is kicking off an advertising campaign for Pepsi MAX that features Major League Baseball all-stars and baseball greats.

New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia (l.) and legendary St. Louis Cardinals shortshop Ozzie Smith (c.) appear in one of the Pepsi MAX TV spots.

The beverage giant said that the campaign leads off Tuesday with the first of two new television commercials for the zero-calorie Pepsi MAX that take an amusing spin on the baseball movie Field of Dreams.

MLB legends and current stars — including Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Carlton Fisk, Rickey Henderson, Randy Johnson, Evan Longoria, Lou Piniella, CC Sabathia, Mike Schmidt, Ozzie Smith and Jim Thome — star alongside the Pepsi MAX driver to prove that if Pepsi MAX builds a "Clubhouse in the Corn," the greats will come.

On Monday, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith and Mike Schmidt helped launch the new promotional campaign at the MLB Fan Cave in New York City.

According to PepsiCo, the combined talent in the TV spots represents more than 74 All-Star Game selections, 20 World Series championships, 865 career wins (pitching), seven Hall of Famers and 2,735 career home runs, with three players representing the 500 Home Run Club.
