Popcorn, Indiana serves up ready-to-eat microwave popcorn

Popcorn, Indiana has introduced Warm Your Corn, which it said is the first-ever ready-to-eat popcorn that comes in a microwave safe bag.

NEW YORK — Popcorn, Indiana has introduced Warm Your Corn, which it said is the first-ever ready-to-eat popcorn that comes in a microwave safe bag.

The company said Tuesday that its Original Movie Theater Popcorn now comes in specially marked bags that enable consumers to easily warm up the fresh and crunchy treat, enhancing their "at-home movie theater experience."

Calling the new bag "a true innovation in the snack food category," the company explained that a specially designed structure provides for a high moisture barrier and allows sufficient shelf life for the product to always be delivered fresh and crunchy.

"The idea has been in development since spring 2010, as it took time to fine-tune requirements, develop the design with our supply partner and complete testing," stated Hitesh Hajarnavis, president and chief executive officer of Popcorn, Indiana.

"As the company that pioneered the commercial launch of Kettlecorn, the first popcorn chip known as chip’ins, Drizzled popcorn, and a multitude of enticing flavors (cinnamon sugar, bacon ranch, buffalo cheddar, to name a few), we wanted to offer our customers a new way of enjoying movie theater popcorn in the comfort of their own home," Hajarnavis added.

As with all Popcorn, Indiana products, Warm Your Corn is free of any artificial flavoring and preservatives. The product began shipping to all retail outlets in mid-August.
