NUTLEY, N.J. — Reckitt plans to invest up to $600 million over multiple years to expand its U.S. research, innovation and manufacturing capabilities, including increased production capacity for Mucinex and Move Free.
The investment covers two major projects in New Jersey and North Carolina as Reckitt seeks to accelerate product development and strengthen the supply of its consumer health products.
In New Jersey, Reckitt recently relocated its North American campus to consolidate its commercial and operational teams. The company will next break ground on a new science and innovation center focused on disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care, and personal care.

The center will serve as a global germ-protection hub within Reckitt’s R&D network and support brands such as Lysol. Reckitt said that bringing R&D and commercial expertise together is intended to shorten the path from product development to the retail shelf.

Reckitt is also expanding plans for a new OTC manufacturing facility in North Carolina, expected to open in the first half of 2027. The company said it has doubled its initial investment in the facility, which will become its largest U.S. OTC manufacturing site.

The additional investment will expand production capacity for Mucinex tablets and liquids and increase production volumes for Move Free. Reckitt is also expanding the facility’s physical footprint to provide greater manufacturing flexibility and room for future growth.
Reckitt employs more than 4,000 people across seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers in the United States.
