LOS ANGELES — Reed’s Inc. has inked a distribution deal with CVS Caremark Corp. to carry its Reed’s Rx anti-nausea remedy in the retailer’s drug stores nationwide.
The Los Angeles-based company, which makes natural sodas and foods and ginger brews, said Tuesday that the more than 7,000 CVS/pharmacy and Longs Drug Stores locations will offer the new Reed’s Rx line in the digestive/stomach product aisles.
Reed’s Rx Natural Ginger Nausea Relief is an over-the-counter, ginger-based beverage designed to help relieve nausea and motion sickness. Each can is brewed with 12 grams of fresh ginger and 10 mg of vitamin B6, along with lemon, lime, honey and pineapple, according to the company.
"Consumers have been using our natural products for morning sickness and motion sickness for years. Some doctors and cancer patients have reported its effectiveness with easing the discomfort associated with chemotherapy. We have found a lot of exciting research and historical evidence pointing to ginger as an effective remedy for nausea throughout history, some dating back as far as the early Roman Empire," Chris Reed, founder, chairman and chief executive of Reed’s Inc., said in a statement. "A ginger-based nausea relief product is an obvious natural remedy, and we already have a reputation for making the highest-quality natural beverages with ginger. As a result, we developed our Reed’s Rx line.
He added, "CVS is cutting-edge in its offerings and has been integrating natural alternatives into their stores for quite some time, and we are pleased that we could attract a leading retailer like CVS to carry this new product nationwide on launch."
Other Reed’s Inc. products include Ginger Brews, Virgil’s Root Beer, China Cola, Sonoma Sparkler, Reed’s Ginger Candies and Reed’s Ginger Ice Cream.
