PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Known for its herbal cough and throat lozenges, Ricola is making a foray into the U.S. immunity category.
The Switzerland-based company said Thursday that it has launched Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges, which contain ginseng and vitamins C, B6 and B12 to bolster the immune system and help fight fatigue. The lozenges contain no artificial flavors, colors or genetically modified ingredients.
“The immunity category has exploded in recent years,” stated William Higgins, regional president for North America at Ricola. “We are excited to expand our product portfolio into the category and bring consumers a proactive approach to wellness.”
Ricola noted that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, millions of Americans suffer from the common cold each year and end up missing out on key moments, ranging from family celebrations and vacations to meetings and days at work. At the same time, Americans spent over $4.7 billion on cough and cold remedies during the 2015-16 cough/cold season, Ricola said, citing IRI data.
But U.S. consumers could avoid that lost time and expense by spending a couple of bucks a day to support their immune system with Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges, according to the company.
“It is our highly concentrated, purified form of Panax Ginseng that works to fight the fatigue associated with today’s busy lifestyle, a first in mainstream U.S. immunity products,” commented Raymond Place, head of corporate product development and innovation at Ricola. “When combined with Chrüterchraft, the secret blend of 10 Swiss herbs found in almost all Ricola products, consumers will now have access to an immunity product that is not only effective but tastes good, too.”
Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges come in honey herb and citrus herb flavors and are available at CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens and Rite Aid drug stores nationwide.
