CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. has named the winners of its 2015 Vote for Your Favorite Pharmacy Team Member Contest.

The drug chain said Tuesday that Sharon Balser, a Rite Aid pharmacy technician in Milford, Mich., and Theresa Forrest, a Rite Aid customer in Gwynn Oak, Md., were selected at random from more than 11,000 entries.

Launched in the fall, the Favorite Pharmacy Team Member Contest recognizes Rite Aid pharmacy associates for providing excellent customer service. Customers submitted mail-in nominations and online ballots during American Pharmacists Month in October. The names of one customer and one pharmacy team member were each randomly drawn to receive $2,500 in Rite Aid gift cards.

All nominated Rite Aid pharmacy team members will be recognized with a Favorite Pharmacy Team Member lapel pin and a letter of commendation from Ken Martindale, CEO of Rite Aid Stores and president of Rite Aid Corp., and Jocelyn Konrad, executive vice president of pharmacy.

“We are excited to celebrate the Rite Aid pharmacy teams who are continuing to provide caring moments of service to loyal customers across the country,” Konrad said in a statement. “With more than 11,000 entries, it’s phenomenal to see the appreciation our customers have for their local pharmacy associates, and I’d like to thank each nominated team member for championing Rite Aid’s promise to deliver outstanding customer service.”

Balser has been a pharmacy technician for nearly 30 years at the Rite Aid store in Milford and was nominated six times this year. Rite Aid said she’s known for her kindness and her ability to consistently help customers while making them feel appreciated.

“With more than 30 years at Rite Aid, Sharon is the perfect example of what it means to provide excellent service with a personal touch,” commented Rite Aid pharmacy district manager Rony Foumia. “I’m thrilled that her hard work and dedication are being recognized as she is truly an exceptional pharmacy technician.”

Forrest, the winning Rite Aid customer, participated in the program by nominating a pharmacy technician at her local store in Baltimore.
