CAMP HILL, Pa. — The Rite Aid Foundation has made a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross West Virginia Region to help families and communities impacted by the devastating flooding in parts of the state.
Rite Aid operates 104 stores and one distribution center in West Virginia and employs about 1,900 associates across the state.
“One of Rite Aid’s core values is to be a caring neighbor in the communities we serve and that’s especially true in times of need,” Ken Martindale, Rite Aid CEO of stores, president of Rite Aid Corp., and president of The Rite Aid Foundation, said in a statement. “The need in West Virginia, where Rite Aid has had a presence for many years, is great and we are proud to partner with the American Red Cross as they work tirelessly to provide relief and support to so many in their hour of need.”
On June 23, thunderstorms dumped torrential rains on parts of West Virginia, with accumulations of up to 10 inches in just a few hours, and triggered flash floods in the state and nearby parts of Virginia. The flooding led to evacuations of many homes and businesses, closed roads and bridges, and led to a number of deaths.
