PHILADELPHIA — According to published reports, Rite Aid plans to close 12 more Michigan stores, the company said in a court filing earlier this week as it seeks to exit federal bankruptcy protection.

The document filed Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey did not indicate when the stores would be shuttered or what would happen to the employees, but the nonprescription merchandise will be liquidated in “store closing” and “going out of business” sales.

The dozen Michigan stores account for less than 10% of Rite Aid’s 186 stores in the state.
