CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. posted a 2.4% same-store sales gain for June. Front-end comparable-store sales increased 0.3% over the prior-year period. Pharmacy same-store sales, which included a negative impact from new generic introductions of about 226 basis points, increased 3.4%. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 0.2%.
Total sales for the four-week period rose 2.2% to $2.04 billion. Prescription sales accounted for 69% of sales, and third-party prescriptions represented 97.8% of pharmacy sales.
Year to date, same-store sales were up 2.8%. Front-end comparable-store volume edged up 0.6% for the 17-week period ended June 27, while pharmacy same-store sales increased 3.8%. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 1.3% over the prior-year period.
Total sales for the 17 weeks increased 2.6% to $8.64 billion compared to the same period last year. Prescriptions represented 69.1% of total sales, and third-party prescriptions accounted for 97.7% of pharmacy sales.
