Ruffles brings french fry experience to snack aisle

Frito-Lay’s Ruffles potato chip brand is serving up french fry flavor in the snack section with the launch of Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips.

PLANO, Texas — Frito-Lay’s Ruffles potato chip brand is serving up french fry flavor in the snack section with the launch of Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips.

The PepsiCo division said Tuesday that Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips, available this month, are the first-ever french fry-shaped snacks sliced from real potatoes.

According to Frito-Lay, the new product brings to life the french fry experience, from the shape and the taste to the crunchy texture and the packaging. The strips can even be microwaved for a straight-from-the-diner flavor, the company added.

Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips come in original and cheese-flavored varieties. A 1-ounce bag carries a suggested retail price of $1.09.

"Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are inspired by bar and diner foods guys really love, but packaged conveniently for on-the-go snacking," stated Christina Menendez, senior director of marketing at Frito-Lay North America. "These great-tasting fries can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime, and are great on their own as a snack or a perfect accompaniment to hamburgers and hot dogs."

Frito-Lay added that Ruffles Crispy Fries Potato Strips are rolling out just in time for National French Fry Day on July 13, a day dedicated to celebrating this American food staple. The company Ruffles’ newest snack adds a unique spin on the french fry.
